Welcome to the ICIM

Finland’s education policy and National Education policy of India both have aims to rethink the roles, goals and content of school subjects by embedding several competences:  One such competencies Taking care of oneself, managing daily activities and safety. On 15th August - Celebrating 75 years of India's independence and its rich New education policy - CCE Finland initiated a movement - ICIM - putting Finnish Education's one of the Transversal Competences 'Looking after oneself/Managing Daily Activities/Safety''

This competency refers predominantly to health, safety, mobility, transport and not to forget human relationships. ICIMs main aim will be to support individuals/students to act in an responsible behaviour, manage daily lives, routines, personal finances and consumption. The idea is for each individual to understand their influence on their own  and other people's lives.

As we witness multilevel changes locally and globally and unpredictable future demands of work and people’s lives - need for ICIM is now widely accepted and recognized to create the need for a new kind of individual/student whose competence is not only academics but beyond academics. Too. ICIM is essential in today’s and tomorrow’s society.

CCE Finland schools have wholeheartedly participated in this mega drive of ICIM  "Independent Country - Independent Me'' -commemorating 75 years of independence. This project engages all grades from K-11 and focuses on various aspects of every student/individual's independence and managing self.

This thought continues from a project to a movement. Teachers/parents across the spectrum are designing/encouraging a series  of tasks upon which the students will be encouraged to be independent on the following parameters irrespective of age:

  1. Personal grooming and hygiene

  2. Being respectful

  3. Managing household chores/personal responsibilities

  4. Environmental Awareness/Responsibility

ICIM - Independent Country Independent me

It's not a project - it's a movement

Independent country Independent Me is CCE Finland’s effort to define and develop the skills, attitudes and values individuals/students need for managing their daily lives and looking after oneself.

ICIM is cumulation of Finnish Transversal Competence, India’s New Education Policy and not to forget Celebration of each countries Independence.  Key measures of ICIM include personal grooming, etiquette, managing household chores and being a socially responsible member of the community. This approach focuses on making every student/individual independent in not only managing their daily lives but their emotions too.
