Early childhood education and care (ECEC) in Finland is based on an integrated approach to education and care, the so-called “EduCare” model. The legislation defines ECEC as a planned and goal-oriented entity of education, upbringing, and care, with an emphasis on pedagogy.
 
All children under school-age are entitled to early childhood education and care should their parents to decide. Until recently regulations focused on parents’ entitlement to have a daycare place for their children. The new ECEC Act (2015) approaches the ECEC as a right of the child

ECEC centers gather for children from the age of 0 to the beginning of school at the age of 7. Other forms of ECEC services include family daycare as well as various clubs and open ECEC activities organized by municipalities, local parishes, and non-governmental organizations for children and their families.

Pre-primary education as part of the ECEC is the systematic education and instruction provided in the year preceding the start of compulsory education.  Pre-primary education is organized both in ECEC centers and in schools. The national core curriculum governing pre-primary education is the same regardless of the setting. The majority of children attend pre-primary education in ECEC centers.

Finland and CCE do not claim to show the best teachers, best schools or best teaching methods in this program, as in Finland, there is no selective approach. The education is learner-centered. The teachers do their best to make learning better. You will get to see what is actually happening in the classroom. We can not guarantee a school visit to a particular school as it is the school's decision if they want to take any visitors on a particular day.

Detail schedule with time and options for school visits will be declared two weeks prior to the tour and will be sent to the confirmed registered participants. CCE reserves the right to change the program depending on the batch size of the participants.

1. What is the difference between education tour and symposium arranged by CCE?

The Finland education tour focuses on the Finnish education model and specially designed to make the participants aware of as many aspects of the Finnish education system as possible. The symposium is generally for 4 or 5 days, out of which the first two days are dedicated to the Finnish education model and the last two days are reserved for the international paper presentations on creativity in education. So there is more scope for discussion on creative education. One can listen to various studies going on in different parts of the world about creativity.

 

2. Where do we start?

All participants are required to CHECK-IN on Sunday evening at Tampere hotel. The travel from Helsinki to Tampere on Sunday is not covered in the tour fee.

 

3. Where will we be staying in Finland?

The participants shall be accommodated in popular hotels in Tampere. Hotels in the range of 100 to 120 Euro per night  (breakfast included), are being considered. All hotels are 4 Stars category.

 

4. What is the duration of this delegation?

The delegation shall consist of 4 days and 3 nights in Finland. Of these, 3 days shall be for official visits to schools and other institutions and workshops. Participants will be free to explore Helsinki, Tampere and other places of interest nearby during free time.

 

5. Does the fee include payment for meals too?

Breakfasts are included in the hotel charges.  Lunches and snacks will be served on all 3 days of official visits. Dinners are not provided so that the participants can explore the local cuisine.

7.What about visa processing?

CCE will send the necessary documents to the participants like invitation letter but the participants need to arrange their own visa.

 

8.What if I confirm and drop out? Will I be given a refund for the fee?

   Refunds are subject to the cancellation policies of the travel agency and the hotel partners. The refund policy is as follows:   a. Less than 30 days prior to the trip - No refund under any circumstances (e.g. rejection of visa)   b. Less than 90 days but more than 30 days - 50% of the cost will be refunded 

. More than 90 days to trip - 80% of the cost will be refunded

 

9. What are some of the key dates?

Applications should take around 15 days but can take up to 30 days to process, especially during busy periods. However, it may take up to 60 days in complex cases or if there is a backlog of applications - so apply early.

A team of CCE Accreditation specai, focusing on statutory compliance, quality research, management, and student support, conducts a thorough 2-3 day visit. Discussions with the principal and key staff lay the groundwork for the next phase.

Building on the insights from Phase 2, the final visit solidifies the accreditation process. Discussions with the principal and administrative staff, along with an examination of timetables and class schedules, ensure a comprehensive assessment. The success of this phase relies on the institution's proactive engagement and transparency. Open communication, readiness to share relevant information, and a commitment to continuous improvement are crucial aspects during the on-site audit.

Decision - Recognition & Accreditation 

Each decision outcome is carefully considered, reflecting the commitment to maintaining the highest standards of Finnish education

  • Accreditation:

    • Description: Awarded when an institution demonstrates substantial alignment with CCE Finland's standards, with identified areas for further attention or improvement.

    • Duration: Granted for a total period not exceeding 24 months, contingent on the occurrence of the Phase 3 completion.

    • Fee Implication: The Initial Annual Accreditation Fee is valid for 24 months and yearly renewal becomes payable upon quality audit at that point in time.

  • Accreditation with Conditions:

    • Description: Occurs when weaknesses or concerns are identified, and CCE Finland specifies conditions for full accreditation.

    • Timeline: The institution is given a three-month period to satisfy specified conditions.

    • Next Steps: Upon meeting conditions, the institution submits evidence, and the Committee reconvenes to decide on Interim Accreditation.

  • Refusal of Accreditation:

    • Description: Issued when significant shortcomings indicate a misalignment with CCE Finland's standards.

    • Right of Appeal: The institution has the right to appeal within 12 months of this refusal.

    • Appeal Process: The institution can present additional evidence or address concerns raised during the refusal decision. The committee reconsiders the decision based on provided information.

Listing on CCE Finland Website: All accredited institutions will be proudly featured on the CCE Finland website, with their accreditation status clearly displayed.
